Filter presses are often applied in the food sector for the filtration of suspensions where the  resulting produce - either liquid or filter cake – comes right from the filter press, often for very specialized special niche applications. Due to the high-class requirements for the production devices, cleanliness is key which leads to special designs (“hygienic design”) and use of materials (e.g. stainless steel versions), sometimes under special conditions (e.g. > 100 °C) . Back in 1968, Simex started with filter presses for wine production and is again increasingly active in some food sectors like fruit juice, yeast production or preparation of edible oils.
